The Tulbagh is centrally located to explore the town with its historic Church Street and many other attractions and amenities. The main hotel building dates from 1859 and offers a range of contemporary-styled luxurious rooms. Crafted from the old wagon shed, this suite oozes romantic charm with open thatch, two fireplaces, bath and shower for two. There are three pool areas, free Wi-Fi throughout and an in-house beauty therapist. A state of the art conference centre caters for up to 22 delegates. The Olive Terrace Bistro is our popular in-house restaurant, and The Lounge is our new tapas bar featuring local wines and craft beers. All areas have air conditioning and there are cosy wood-burning fires for the winter evenings. Tulbagh is just over an hours drive from Cape Town, nestled at the foot of the Witzenburg, Winterhoek and Obiqua Mountains in the heart of the Cape Winelands. Cancellation of appointment must be made at least 24 hours before relevant appointment. The Olive Terrace offers à la carte dining which can be enjoyed al fresco either on the terrace under the White Karee tree or in the tranquil and secluded courtyard. The period dining room is spacious with large open fires to ward off the winter chill. Open seven days a week for breakfast, lunch and dinner, the menu is a celebration of South African flavours using locally-sourced seasonal fruits and vegetables. The menu at the Olive Terrace offers a feast of local fresh produce and tastes, including delicious almond and pecan nuts, soft fruits, organic vegetables, cheese and free range eggs. To accompany these delights are freshly baked breads, jams and chutneys made with local fruits, all of which are made in house. Tempt your taste buds with our in house seasonal dishes, including vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options. Just over an hour from Cape Town and an easy drive from Stellenbosch and Riebeek Kasteel, Tulbagh is a great day trip from Cape Town; or stay overnight and enjoy more of the Valley’s attractions. Tulbagh is en route to many Western Cape destinations and the Tulbagh Hotel offers a relaxing break along the route less travelled.
